Ingredients:
Thavilla billa 1.idli rice-2 tumbler(heaped), (1 tumbler=200 ml) 2.Toor dal-11/4 tumbler , 3.urad dal-1/2 tumbler, 4.chana dal -1/2 tumbler, 5.coconut-1tumbler,(shredded) 6.rock salt-4tsp. Vurupindi 1.coconut(shredded)-1tumbler , 2.urad dal-3tsp, 3.red chilli -6 , 4.green chilli-6 , 5.ginger-1 inch(peel the skin), 6.coriander leaves -1 handful, 7.curry leaves-1handful, 8.Tamarind-1 amlasize, 9.rock salt-2tsp.
Procedure:
Thavilla billa
Step1 soak rice and dals separately for 3 and 1 hour respectively.
Step2.first grind dals in a grinder with little water sprinkled. Batter should be smooth and take it out in a container.
Step3.now add rice and coconut in the grinder and grind it to a coarse batter.take it out and add salt.batter should be in a thick consistency and need not to fermented.
Vurupindi
Step1 Take a pan add some oil and then add urad dal and red chilli and fry until golden brown.
Step2.take a mixer jar add all ingredients mentioned for vurupindi and grind it coarsely.
To make thavilla billa
Step1.take a vengala thavilla and turn on stove.add two spoons of oil and two spoons of ghee.
Step2.spread the batter slightly thicker and let it cook in a simmer flame with lid closed until becomes golden brown.
Step3.flip it to other side now keep it open in a simmer flame until it becomes golden brown.
Our traditional thavilla billa (soft yet crispy) is ready to be served with vurupindi.
