Ingredients:
Thavilla billa 1.idli rice -2tumbler(heaped) (1tumbler=200ml) 2.Toor dal -11/4 tumbler 3.chana dal -1/2tumbler 4.urad dal -1/2tumbler 5.coconut -1moodi 6.rock salt-4tsp Oorupindi 1.coconut-1moodi 2.urad dal-3tsp 3.red chilli-5 4.green chilli-5 5.ginger-1 inch piece 6.amla-1 7.coriander leaves -1handfull 8.curryleaves -1handfull 9.tamarind-1(amla size) 10.rocksalt -2tsp.
Procedure:
Thavilla billa
Step1.soak the rice for 3hours and soak all three dals in a separate container for one hour.
Strp2.grind the soaked dals smoothly and take it out and then add rice and coconut and grind it coarsely.atlast add salt.
Batter is ready to use and need not to be fermented.
Oorupindi
Step1.take a pan add oil.add urad dal and red chilli and saute it till it becomes golden brown
Step2.once it cools down add all the ingredients (listed above)to a mixer jar and grind it coarsely.
To make thavilla billa
1.take a iron kadai add two spn oil and one spn ghee.
2.take some batter and spread it slightly thicker .
3.cover with a lid and let it cook in simmer flame.once it becomes golden brown flip it to other side and now keep the kadai open.
4.let the other side also come to golden brown.
Our crispy yet soft thavilla billa is ready to be served with oorupindi.
