Recipe Name: Kandhi kudum podi

Ingredients:
Kandhi Pappu ( toor dal) 1.5 cups, idli rice 3 cups , for batter. For talimpu oil big onion 2, mustard little, bedallu(, channa dhal) 1 spoon, udippu ( urud dhal) 1 spoon , inguva( asafoetida) little , green chillies coarsely grinded as per taste, preserved green pepper 1 spoon, curry leaves 3 strands, moremilagai (varukaiya), salt to taste. For side dish raw mango small cut pieces, red chilli powder, salt .
Procedure:
soak rice and red gram dhal separately for three hrs grind separately and mix with required salt . Let the rice be little coarse after grinding. (The batter is similar to idly batter. ) Allow the batter to ferment overnight. Next day for preparation of kandhi kudum podi make big Idlies ie ., Stem cook the batter in cooker vessels ,allow the Idlies to cool and make kudum podi..in a big kadai ( banali) saute the talimpu things as we do for kudum podi/ idli uppumma . Serve with oota saman , uppumirapodhi mangai.
