Recipe Name: Neer Unta with Coconut Oorpindi

Ingredients:
Rice Coconut Balls | தேங்காய் அரிசி உருண்டை | Neer Unta Ingredients Coconut - 1 medium Idly rice - 1 cup Salt - to taste Water - as required Coconut Oorpindi Coconut Thovaiyal தேங்காய் துவையல் Ingredients: Coconut - 1/2 cup channa dal - 3 tbsp urud dal - 1 1/2 tbsp red chilli - 4 salt - to taste jaggery - 1tsp tamrind - small pinch
Procedure:
Preparation
- Soak idly rice for 5 hours
- In a mixer grinder add coconut slices, salt and grind it
- Add soaked rice in it and grind it for coarse consistency (add little much of water)
- Make a batter into small balls and steam it into idly cooker for 15 mins
- In a vessel add water mixed with small amount of batter and salt
- Add steamed rice balls into the water and boil it for 8-10 mins
- Serve hot with coconut chutney or pickle
Note
- the boiled water can be consumed as well just like buttermilk
Coconut Oorpindi
Preparation:
- In a pan add channa dal, urud dal, red chilli and saute it
- until it turn into brown, let them cool
- in a pan add coconut and saute it for 2 mins
- In a mixer jar add roasted dals, salt, jaggery, tamrind and grind it into coarse powder
- add coconut and water grind into chutney consistency
